03:41 pm - Unemployed Again
So it seems like I'm having a hard time keeping a job into fall/winter. Last year I was unemployed by the end of August (my choice), and this year I am also unemployed by the end of August (not my choice; we closed down). I think maybe I should take the hint and just take up hibernating. :/ Right now I'm bummed because I loved this job. :( It was so close! So convenient! So much fun! No nasty coworkers out to get me, and towards the end there I was even getting hours. Ah, well. I'm sure I'll find something else, it's just disheartening right now. Even though I knew this was coming I was still pretty choked up when I was locking the door for the last time on Friday.
My new computer should be arriving sometime early next week to console me, at least. That's something. I'll be scouring job sites with a HOT NEW MONITOR. :D So life can't be all bad.
Anyway, with Gwyn in school full time and me filling idle hours with job hunting, I'll probably be able to actually get back to editing Dethsoap and such. Participating in fandom again. I tend to ward off depression by drawing and writing smut, so maybe I'll be more active? It's possible! The WIPs like Fantasyklok might even get worked on.... though That takes Gwyn being able to write, as well as me, and she's been pretty busy of late.
Anyway, I'll be around more often on AIM (twilightspeaks) and Y!M (twilight_speaks), if anyone wants to chat. :) I'm usually happy enough about any distractions.

By the way, I bought "A Game of Thrones" last night. :) I'm going to start reading it this week. Maybe. If I can get in the mood to read a book. Haha.

Do you happen to know what video card you'll be getting in your shiny new computer? I'm just curious because I'll be building one (hopefully) by the end of the year and I wouldn't mind some people pointing me in the right direction.
Also, I haven't seen you on AIM in ages. I'll check my block filter to see if I accidentally removed you, but if you could do likewise, that would be great. Feel free to IM me whenever you'd like.
Yeah, I haven't been on AIM in ages. XD I'll be on tonight, though! I just can't run AIM and Y!M at the same time or my computer crashes, and lately I've had more friends on Y! than AIM.
Though, that problem should be over soon.
I have no idea what video card I'm getting. Andy ordered me an Alienware computer that looks like a glowing helmet, and promised me it would be awesome. I left the details up to him and just wrote him a check.
It's a Radeon HD 4850. :D Don't remember how much ram it has offhand but believe me, we'll be benchmarking the hell out of them to see what they can do. 8-)
Wonderful. Please keep me up to date so I know exactly what to get.

Ahh, that's the same I have then. It runs stuff pretty nicely. I can play TF2 full screen (1920x1280) with the details at medium/high and it runs quite nice.
Handles stuff like Crysis2/FEAR2 at lower resolutions with high details just fine too.
The ATI's are good (cheap_ cards and are the cards to get atm.

oh yeah, the new machines (which as you've read, Sarah and Andy now have up and running Far Cry 2, World in Conflict, Sims3, etc) both have Geforce GTX260s in them, which is a hell of a card for the money.
Bah! *hug* Here's to something fulfilling and lasting coming along soon!
I'm trying to be sorry about your job, but am too pleased that this should lead to new Dethsmut.
I suck at symapthy.
XD Well, I have this habit of supplying bright sides, so I suck at fishing for sympathy. I really loved that job, and I'll miss working there, but I'll find something else and in the meanwhile crank out some fanfic. :D |
